The closest ClickDimensions alternative inside Microsoft is Customer Insights – Journeys: native on Dataverse, Copilot in its builders, from $1,700 per tenant per month ($1,000 Attach) with 10,000 Interacted People included. ThinkingStreams is a connected alternative that drafts whole campaigns from a brief, from $650/month annually. ClickDimensions doesn't publish pricing.
TL;DR: If your marketing runs on Dynamics 365, you're probably weighing three options: ClickDimensions (now branded Click), Customer Insights – Journeys, or something newer. Teams that were on Dynamics 365 Marketing's outbound module had the decision forced on them when Microsoft removed it in May 2026. ClickDimensions customers weren't forced, but many are looking anyway, usually because output demand has outgrown the team or a renewal is coming up. This post compares the three in plain terms: ClickDimensions (native, manual, no published pricing), Customer Insights – Journeys (Microsoft's native product, Copilot inside its builders, priced per tenant plus per-person add-ons) and ThinkingStreams (connected via two-way sync, drafts full campaigns from a brief, from US$650/month). We name where each one wins, where it loses, and the three situations where we'd tell you not to buy ours.
Why this post exists
ThinkingStreams makes one of the three products compared here, and I'm one of its co-founders. Links to our own comparison pages for the other two sit at the end of this post. Every claim about ClickDimensions and Customer Insights – Journeys is sourced to that vendor's own published pages, with the date we checked. If we've got something wrong, tell us and we'll fix it.
A note on names: ClickDimensions now presents itself as Click. We use "ClickDimensions" here because that's still what most people search for, but it's the same product.
Do you have to move off ClickDimensions or Dynamics 365 Marketing?
There are two quite different starting points, and they lead to different decisions.
If you were on Dynamics 365 Marketing (outbound) Microsoft made the decision for you. Here is the timeline, from Microsoft's own documentation (outbound marketing removal notes, checked 2026-10-19; Microsoft's transition FAQ confirms the August 2024 announcement and the phased removal):
- December 2022 — Microsoft published its migration playbook for moving from Dynamics 365 Marketing (outbound) to Customer Insights - Journeys.
- July 2023 — Outbound marketing closed to new customers and was frozen. No new features after this point.
- August 2024 — Microsoft announced removal, effective after 30 June 2025, with in-product banners warning existing customers.
- May 2026 — Outbound marketing was fully removed from all environments.
If you're rebuilding anyway, you're already paying the cost of learning something new. That makes this an unusually cheap moment to compare tools, whether you end up on Customer Insights – Journeys, ClickDimensions or something else.
If you're on ClickDimensions
Nothing forces you to move. ClickDimensions still serves a long-established base of Dynamics 365 customers, and it's owned by Volaris Group, part of Constellation Software, since January 2023. If it's working, staying is a legitimate outcome of this post.
The teams on ClickDimensions who do look around usually have one of three reasons: they're being asked for far more campaigns with the same headcount, a renewal is coming up, or they want AI to build campaigns rather than assemble every asset by hand. If none of those apply, you can probably stop reading.
What are ClickDimensions, Customer Insights – Journeys and ThinkingStreams?
Strip the adjectives and here's what each product literally is, in terms you could repeat to your CFO without embellishment:
- ClickDimensions is a marketing automation app built and sold natively inside Microsoft Dynamics 365.
- Customer Insights - Journeys is Microsoft's own marketing automation product, built natively on Dataverse, usually paired with Customer Insights - Data for profile unification.
- ThinkingStreams is an AI marketing platform that connects to Dynamics 365 via two-way sync and an optional data push, and drafts full campaigns from a brief for a person to review and approve.
How do ClickDimensions, Customer Insights – Journeys and ThinkingStreams compare?
One sentence per cell. Some rows favour ClickDimensions, some favour Customer Insights - Journeys, some favour ThinkingStreams. Read them in that spirit.
| ClickDimensions | Customer Insights - Journeys | ThinkingStreams | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Where the product lives | Native, built inside Dynamics 365 itself. | Native, built on Dataverse as part of the Microsoft stack. | Connected, with two-way sync of leads, contacts and marketing lists with Dynamics 365. (sources: ThinkingStreams: Dynamics 365 marketing automation, ThinkingStreams docs: CRM data push). |
| What the unit of work is | You assemble each asset (email, landing page, form) by hand in its own designer. | You assemble assets inside Microsoft's builders, with Copilot assisting individual steps: segment queries via natural language, journey structure suggestions, email content ideas from key points you supply (source: Microsoft Learn: Copilot in Customer Insights – Journeys, checked 2026-10-19). | You describe the campaign in a brief and review the drafts it produces (sources: ThinkingStreams: Dynamics 365 marketing automation, ThinkingStreams: ClickDimensions alternative). |
| Where AI sits | No AI campaign-generation capability is described on ClickDimensions' own current feature pages (ClickDimensions feature page, checked 2026-10-19). | Copilot sits inside individual builders: segment creation, journey creation, email content ideas, image suggestions, and a preview "Outreach Optimization Agent" for send-time suggestions (source as above). | AI sits at the campaign level. It drafts the full set of campaign assets from a brief for review (source: ThinkingStreams: Dynamics 365 marketing automation). |
| How brand consistency is held | Manually, by whoever builds each asset, using shared templates. | Manually, via shared templates and brand assets within the Microsoft stack. | Held in a stored Business DNA profile (brand voice, tone, messaging pillars, vocabulary, visual identity) that the AI applies automatically to copy, email and image generation (source: ThinkingStreams docs: Business DNA). |
| Recurring internal work | Manual: each recurring campaign is rebuilt or cloned by a person. | Manual: journeys are built and maintained inside the Microsoft builders by a person. | Scheduled plain-language automations ("Routines") can read data, research the web, and produce draft reports and campaign plans on a cadence, but they cannot send or schedule anything themselves. Everything is left as a draft for a person to approve (source: ThinkingStreams docs: Routines). |
| Reporting | Standard engagement and campaign analytics within its own dashboards (source: ClickDimensions feature page). | Standard Microsoft reporting within the Dynamics 365 / Power Platform stack. | Reports built from a plain-language question, plus AI Visibility checks on how your brand appears in AI answer engines (source: ThinkingStreams docs: AI Visibility overview). That's a different kind of reporting to campaign analytics, not a replacement for it. |
| Approvals and control over what AI is allowed to do | Not applicable in the same sense. There's no AI output to approve, only manual builds a person already controls. | Copilot suggestions are reviewed by a person inside each builder before use. | Nothing sends or publishes until a person approves it, and admin-only Guards limit what agents may do, including how many messages one contact can receive (source: ThinkingStreams docs: Guards). |
| How it is priced | Does not publish pricing. Its own pricing page (checked 2026-10-19) has no dollar figures, only "get a demo" and "contact us" prompts. Third-party figures circulate, but none are vendor-published. | Per-tenant monthly list price plus Interacted-People add-on packs, detailed below (source: Microsoft's Customer Insights pricing page, checked 2026-10-19). | Published starting price from $650/month on an annual commitment, priced on capability rather than seats or contacts (sources: ThinkingStreams: ClickDimensions alternative, ThinkingStreams: Dynamics 365 marketing automation). |
| Product maturity | Long-established. In the Dynamics 365 ecosystem for well over a decade. | Microsoft's own product, backed by Microsoft's scale. | Newer and in Public Preview, without the years of production use the other two have. |
How much do ClickDimensions, Customer Insights – Journeys and ThinkingStreams cost?
ClickDimensions alternatives get compared on price constantly, and most of those comparisons are guesses. Here's what's actually published.
Microsoft's Customer Insights - Journeys base licence is $1,700 per tenant per month, standalone, paid yearly. Existing customers with a qualifying Dynamics 365 app get a discounted "Attach" price of $1,000 per tenant per month. Both tiers include 100,000 Unified People and 10,000 Interacted People (source: Microsoft's Customer Insights pricing page, checked 2026-10-19, corroborated by Microsoft Learn: Customer Insights FAQ, same date).
Beyond that, you buy more Interacted People in packs, and the pack size depends on your total: 5,000-person packs up to 50,000 in total, 10,000-person packs from 50,000 to 250,000, and 50,000-person packs above 250,000 (source: Microsoft's Customer Insights pricing page). The pack sizes are confirmed on Microsoft's own pricing page. The dollar price per pack is rendered client-side and isn't in the page's static text, so we can't cite Microsoft directly for the figures. Multiple independent Dynamics 365 partner sources (o365hq.com, stravatechgroup.com) consistently report Microsoft's list prices as $250 for a 5,000-person pack, $300 for a 10,000-person pack, and $500 for a 50,000-person pack. Treat those three numbers as partner-reported, not vendor-confirmed.
Here's what that means for a real audience size. Say you need to reach 50,000 Interacted People a month. The base licence includes 10,000. You need 40,000 more. The cheapest route is four 10,000-person packs at $300 each: $1,200 a month in add-ons. Total cost: $2,200/month on the $1,000 Attach base, or $2,900/month on the $1,700 standalone base.
ClickDimensions doesn't publish pricing anywhere on its own site (ClickDimensions pricing page, checked 2026-10-19). Some third-party posts quote figures, but ClickDimensions hasn't published them, so treat them as unconfirmed.
ThinkingStreams' own published starting price is from $650/month on an annual commitment (sources: ThinkingStreams: ClickDimensions alternative, ThinkingStreams: Dynamics 365 marketing automation).
There's a structural point worth naming plainly, not as an attack: one of these three products prices itself by the size of the audience you're trying to grow. Your bill rises as your marketing succeeds. That's simply how Customer Insights - Journeys' pricing model works, and it's worth knowing before you sign anything.
Which is the best ClickDimensions alternative for your team?
ClickDimensions
ClickDimensions suits teams that want everything inside Dynamics with no external system to govern. If you have a working build process already and no volume problem, that's a real reason to stay put. ClickDimensions also has its own configurable lead scoring and survey capabilities (source: ClickDimensions feature page, checked 2026-10-19), which matter to teams running structured qualification programmes. One thing to check with ClickDimensions before renewing: how much engagement data it stores in your Dynamics 365 environment, and what that means for your Dataverse storage capacity. With well over a decade in the Dynamics ecosystem, it's a defensible, unglamorous choice for a team that values stability.
Customer Insights - Journeys
Customer Insights - Journeys suits Microsoft-first organisations consolidating on one vendor. If your procurement prefers a single Microsoft agreement over a second vendor relationship, that preference alone can settle the decision. It also suits teams that need Dataverse-native profile unification, or who want Customer Insights - Data running alongside it for a fuller view of the customer. And it suits teams whose actual audience size keeps the per-person pricing affordable: if you're nowhere near 50,000 Interacted People, the add-on math above barely applies to you.
ThinkingStreams
ThinkingStreams suits teams whose output demand has outgrown their headcount. It also suits teams facing a rebuild anyway, because the outbound marketing removal forced the question, who want Dynamics to remain the system of record rather than be replaced, and who want AI to run the whole campaign rather than speed up individual steps inside a builder, with approvals and Guards so nothing goes out unreviewed. If your bottleneck is "we can't produce campaigns fast enough for the demand," that's the specific problem ThinkingStreams is built for.

When should you not choose ThinkingStreams?
If you are mandated to keep everything inside Dataverse, with no external processor. Some regulated and public-sector buyers can't add any processor outside their Microsoft tenancy, whatever the capability gain. ClickDimensions and Customer Insights – Journeys are native; ThinkingStreams is connected. A connected system is a real governance obligation: a sync to monitor, a data-processing agreement to review and a vendor to assess on an ongoing basis. If that's a non-starter, the comparison ends here.
If you are happy on ClickDimensions and have no renewal pressure, the honest advice is to stay. Changing marketing automation costs weeks of a team's attention, not days. A tool that's quietly working is worth more than a better one you still have to migrate into. The right moment to look is a renewal, a rebuild you're already facing, or output demand your team can't meet. Without one of those, we'd rather you did nothing.
If your procurement needs a long reference list, ThinkingStreams won't clear that bar today. It's newer than both other products and in Public Preview. ClickDimensions has a large installed base and years of partner implementations, and Microsoft is Microsoft. If your process needs a dozen comparable references, a decade of financials, or a vendor your systems integrator already staffs for, we aren't there yet.
If any one of these applies to you, ThinkingStreams is not the right answer. We'd rather say so here than have you find out in month three of a failed rollout.
What doesn't fit in a table
Some things decide the outcome and resist a grid. Who actually reviews and approves sends day to day, not in theory. Whether the tool holds your positioning and voice between requests, or relies on one person's memory of the brand. What happens to the campaign work when the person who built it leaves, a question most teams only ask once it's already a problem. And how much of your existing Dynamics 365 estate you want to carry forward rather than rebuild, which is as much a people question as a technical one.
What we will not claim
We won't give you a feature-by-feature scorecard. In a market moving this fast, any such table goes stale within a quarter, and a stale scorecard is worse than none. We also won't claim the other two have no AI. Customer Insights – Journeys has Copilot inside its builders, and that's a genuine, documented capability. The real difference is where the AI sits in the workflow, not whether it exists. And a standing offer: if a vendor tells us something above is wrong, with a source, we'll correct it.
Frequently asked questions
Is ClickDimensions the same as Click?
Yes. ClickDimensions now presents itself as Click. It is the same product; most people still search for "ClickDimensions".
What is the best ClickDimensions alternative for Dynamics 365?
It depends on your constraint. If you must stay inside Microsoft's stack, Customer Insights – Journeys is Microsoft's native option. If your team needs to produce more campaigns without adding headcount, ThinkingStreams drafts whole campaigns from a brief, from $650/month on an annual commitment. If ClickDimensions is working and no renewal is due, staying is a reasonable choice.
How much does Customer Insights – Journeys cost?
Microsoft lists Dynamics 365 Customer Insights at $1,700 per tenant per month, paid yearly, or $1,000 per tenant per month on the Attach price for organisations with a qualifying Dynamics 365 application. Both include 10,000 Interacted People and 100,000 Unified People. Extra Interacted People are sold in add-on packs whose size depends on your total.
How much does ClickDimensions cost?
ClickDimensions does not publish prices on its own website. Its pricing page (clickdimensions.com/pricing, checked 19 October 2026) offers only demo and contact prompts, so any figure you see elsewhere is not vendor-published.
Is Dynamics 365 Marketing outbound marketing still available?
No. In August 2024 Microsoft announced that outbound marketing would be removed after 30 June 2025, and it was removed from all environments in May 2026 (Microsoft Learn removal notes). Microsoft's replacement is real-time journeys in Customer Insights – Journeys.
Does ThinkingStreams replace Dynamics 365?
No. ThinkingStreams connects to Dynamics 365 through two-way sync of leads, contacts and marketing lists, with an optional data push, so Dynamics 365 stays your system of record. Nothing sends or publishes until a person approves it.
Is ThinkingStreams ready for production use?
ThinkingStreams is in Public Preview, launched 20 October 2026. It is newer than ClickDimensions and Customer Insights – Journeys, so if your procurement needs a long list of comparable references, it won't clear that bar yet.
For our own comparison pages on the other two products, see ClickDimensions alternative and Dynamics 365 marketing automation.
