Passkeys
A passkey lets you sign in without typing a password, using the unlock you already use on your device — Touch ID, Face ID, Windows Hello, or your phone. Passkeys are managed per person, so each teammate sets up their own from the account menu.
Steps
Add a passkey
- Open the account menu in the top-right corner.
- Choose Security.
- Click Add passkey.
- Confirm with your device's unlock prompt.
The new passkey appears in the list straight away. A passkey belongs to the device you created it on, so add a separate one on each device you sign in from.
Sign in with a passkey
- On the sign-in screen, choose Use passkey instead.
- Confirm with your device's unlock prompt.
Your password keeps working, so you can always fall back to it.
Rename a passkey
- Open the account menu and choose Security.
- Open the row menu (⋯) beside the passkey.
- Choose Rename, type a new name, and press Enter.
Devices often register under a generic name, and two similar machines can end up looking identical in the list. Renaming them makes it obvious which is which — which matters most when you need to remove one in a hurry.
Remove a passkey
- Open the account menu and choose Security.
- Open the row menu (⋯) beside the passkey.
- Choose Remove.
Tips
- If you lose a device, remove its passkey straight away. A passkey stays valid until it is removed, and anyone who can unlock that device can use it to sign in.
- The list shows when each passkey was added and when it was last used, which helps you spot one you no longer recognise.
- Removing every passkey is safe — your password still works.
FAQ
Q: I don't see the "Add passkey" button, or it's greyed out. A: Passkeys need a current browser (Chrome, Safari or Edge) on a secure connection. If the button is greyed out, the browser or the address you are using can't create one.
Q: Do I need a passkey on every device? A: Yes, if you want to sign in without a password on each of them. A passkey is tied to the device that created it.
Q: I removed a passkey by accident. A: Removing one can't be undone, but nothing is lost — sign in with your password and add a new passkey on that device.
Q: Does an admin manage my passkeys? A: No. Passkeys are personal, and only you can see or change your own.
