Organization reports

Reports can count your accounts — the organizations your contacts belong to — not only contacts. Eight built-in organization reports in the Library show how your accounts break down and which of them are engaging, each organization's page shows its own Account activity card, and the assistant answers account questions in a chat, in a report it builds for you, in a routine and in a journey's AI decision step.

Organization reports only read your data: nothing here sends a message or changes a record.

What you can do here

  • Add any of the eight organization reports to Pulse from the Library, like any other report.
  • Click an organization in a report to open its page.
  • See one organization's activity on its own page — the Account activity card (see The organization page).
  • Ask the assistant a question about your accounts, or ask it to build a report about them.

The built-in organization reports

ReportWhat it shows
Which industries are my accounts in?How many organizations you have in each industry, and how many active contacts work at them.
What kinds of accounts do I have?Your organizations by type — customers, prospects, partners, competitors, vendors and other — with their active contacts.
How big are my accounts?Your organizations by number of employees, in bands from "Up to 10" to "More than 5,000".
How many new accounts am I adding? The organizations added each month over the past year, and the newest ones.
Do I know contacts at my accounts? How many accounts have no active contacts, one or two, or three or more — and which accounts have nobody.
Which accounts are most engaged? The ten accounts with the most activity in the last 30 days, how many of their contacts took part, and when they were last active.
Which accounts have gone quiet?Accounts that had activity before the last 30 days and none since, the most recently quiet first.
Which industries are most engaged? The activity in each industry over the last 30 days, and how many of its accounts took part — and what share of all its accounts that is.

They refresh every day, like the other built-in reports. Each one counts an organization once, however many contacts work there, and in the reports that break your accounts down, an organization with no contacts still counts — with 0 contacts. Industry and type show as their stored names, such as banking_and_financial_services, not as the labels on an organization's page.

What counts as activity

  • Activity is what an account's contacts did that the app records: opening an email, clicking a link in one, visiting a page, submitting a form, replying to a text, and registering for or attending an event. Each one counts once — a click counts the same as a form (unlike Who are my hottest contacts?, which weighs them).
  • Engaged contacts are the contacts with any activity in the period.
  • Only active contacts count. An archived contact's activity never counts for its organization. A contact counts for the organization they are linked to now, with all of their activity.
  • Deliveries, bounces, unsubscribes and the like are not activity. The assistant can still report on them when you ask.

Archived organizations

Archived organizations are left out of every organization report, unless the report itself looks at the organization's status: it filters on it, counts only the organizations with a given status, or shows organizations by status. The assistant follows the same rule, so ask it for your organizations by status, or how many you've archived, and it includes the archived ones. An archived organization's own page still shows its Account activity card.

Opening an organization from a report

In a report that lists organizations — the newest ones, the ones with no active contacts, the most engaged and the quiet ones — click a name to open that organization's page. If it has since been merged into another organization, you land on the one it was merged into. A report about contacts that the assistant builds for you can link each contact's row to their organization too.

Asking the assistant

You can ask, for example:

  • "Which industries have the most engaged accounts?"
  • "Which of our accounts went quiet this quarter?"
  • "How many of our customer accounts have nobody we know there?"
  • "Build me a report of the accounts with the most activity this month and add it to Pulse."

It starts an account question from your organizations and counts each organization once. It never adds up an organization's own numbers — its employees, its revenue — across its contacts, which would count the organization once per contact; it totals and averages them over the organizations themselves, each counted once.

In routines and journeys

A routine can answer the same questions — a weekly list of the accounts that went quiet, say. In a journey, an AI decision step can check the contact's company before it picks a path — for example "has anyone at this contact's company engaged in the last 30 days?". Both only read.

FAQ

Q: Why does an account with nobody we know still appear in a report? A: Every active organization counts in the reports that break your accounts down, with 0 contacts when nobody is linked to it — that's how Do I know contacts at my accounts? finds the accounts with nobody.

Q: Why is an account missing from the most engaged ones? A: The report lists the ten accounts with the most activity, and only activity by an account's active contacts in the last 30 days counts. An archived organization, or one whose contacts are all archived, is left out.

Q: Can I see these numbers for one organization? A: Yes — open the organization: its Account activity card shows them for that one account (see The organization page).
